Southridge wrestlers keep Battle of the Bone (w/ gallery)

KENNEWICK -- Everyone -- Kennewick, Kamiakin and Southridge -- came away with something good from Tuesday night's tri-dual wrestling match at the home of the Braves.

But the big prize -- a waist-high trophy complete with what one can only hope is an animal femur -- went back home to the Suns as repeat winners of the annual Battle of the Bone.

Julio Aleman scored a pair of pins wrestling up at 285 pounds and Riley Hughes won twice at 145 to lead Southridge to a 49-22 win over Kennewick and 48-28 victory against Kamiakin.

"I've been wrestling forever, and the only season we lost (the bone) was my sophomore year," said Aleman, who personally housed the trophy for the past year. "It's good to have it home."

The Suns improved to 3-2 in the CBBN and moved into a tie with Hanford for third place in league, that on a night when they sat one of their big guns, 160-pounder Connor Rosane, because of his high match count.
